Every year the Dentists come back to Insurance Companies and tell them what increase they require. These increases affect the Employer, since you ultimately pay the premium for your Employees.
As you will notice from the attachment from Empire Life, BC has the largest increase in all of Canada. This is the second year in a row that the increases have been 7% or higher. In the past these increases were around 4% to 5%. The Insurance Company adds their trend on top of the increase the Dentists are requesting. The recent Dental increase for renewals is around 8.3%.
One of the reasons I have heard the Dentists are requesting this increase, is because they have limited the number of patients they can take in a day, because of Covid protocol.
