Every renewal I go through with my clients they all say the same thing, “We can’t continue to afford these increases.” The perception I feel my clients are left with is that the insurance companies aren’t listening to their cries. I was fortunate enough to be invited to Empire Life’s Advisory Council in St. Louis, and I am left feeling that they are hearing you loud and clear.
There are only a couple Insurance Companies that manage their prescription drug reimbursement themselves. Most of the Insurance Companies hire another company that specializes in this field. Empire Life uses Express Scripts, and this is the facility that I had the pleasure of touring. I now understand why they use a specialty drug company to manage their Prescription Drug claims.
My next few blogs I am going to attempt to describe the facility and the work they are doing to manage your prescription drugs and your money. It is nothing short of impressive and I doubt I will be able to do it justice, but I feel it is important that I try.
There is no doubt that a large part of the solution is to take better care of ourselves and if you do require a prescription, adherence is key to long term savings.
