What is Your Perception?

me

I ran into a client who was asking me about my move and if Glendinning Insurance Services was ok financially?  It set me back a bit, that someone’s perception of a move that I am so excited about could be perceived as a negative.

In my client’s defense, we have spoken on several occasions about different ideas on how I could move forward with my company.  This was not a move I discussed with him, so he was surprised.

I am an open and honest person, so when someone asks me a question I tend to give a full explanation.  This time I will spare you the details, Glendinning Insurance Services is doing very well.  We have been so fortunate to once again be able to increase the number of companies we look after.  An honour I take seriously.

Since we are talking about perception, another question I find quite interesting, is “How many clients do I have?”  I don’t understand why this is important?  If I have 3 clients that I make a $1,000,000 a year off is that a good or bad thing?  What if I have 500 clients I make a $1,000,000 a year off, would that be better?  They can both be profitable, and I don’t know what the number is that I should say so that people would perceive me to be successful?

My goal was to love what I do and the people I work with, and in my eyes I am successful because I have both.

By the way, this is my definition of success and I don’t expect it to be anyone else’s.

So my question is, “What is Your Perception?”
