This blog has nothing to do with Insurance.
For the last 5 weeks I have been working with Allie Browning on my nutrition. Allie is one of the personal trainers at the gym I go to, Bodyshop Training Centre. For the record, all of the coaches at the gym are really good, Allie is the one who deals with diet plans. I hesitate to call it a diet because of most people’s perception of the word.
I was interested in doing this because Allie thought by changing my nutrition she could improve the sleep that menopause so cruelly stole from me. Within a week of my new diet I was back sleeping through the night. I was sold.
The next plan of action was to get rid of those last 5 lbs… It ended up being a little over 3 lbs and I lost 9% body fat and gained 7 lbs in muscle. Allie has told me that I shouldn’t lose anymore weight. WHAT???? Did I hear her correctly??? The last time I remember being ok with my body and not thinking I needed to lose any weight was when I was 15 years old. I will never forget when I realized that I might have the start of a woman’s body, the other times were on the day of my bodybuilding competitions, and that doesn’t count.
What does it mean that I don’t have to lose anymore weight? My brain doesn’t even know how to process this information. The thought that I had to lose 5 lbs or more has been with me for around 40 years.
So that must mean that my life has changed, right???
- I’m now invited to all the best parties in town…
- I have a line up of men outside my door begging me to go out with them, just a minute that was the doorbell… Nope, no men…
- than it must mean I will drive a sexy fast car… Nope, still have the Honda Fit
- I must look like the supermodel on the front cover of the magazines, let me check… Nope, no supermodel body
What does losing the last 5 lbs mean? I am eating more food than I ever have, I am training harder and I have more energy… I have just heard my friends grone and say, no more energy, please. These are pretty big points and shouldn’t be dismissed.
So, why have I obsessed over the last five pounds for so many years, I have no idea and if I ever find out, you will be the first to know.
In the meantime, my new obsession will be jumping above 30 feet next time I am on my kite.
