fix

Quite a few years back I was driving my Astro Mini Van, yes I drove an Astro Mini Van, and I was hit from behind when I was stopped at a red light.  The car that hit the van was a Honda Civic and it knocked my van out into the middle of the intersection.  She was dealing with kids in the back seat and never even hit the brakes.  The 4 kids in the back, thank goodness, were all somehow in seat belts and they seemed to be uninjured.  The two adults in the front had the dash hit their knees and it didn’t look great.

My point to this story is, I was also injured and now had the opportunity to put my most excellent broker skills to work.  I deal with claims everyday in my job.  All sorts of claims and with many different insurance companies.  So when I became injured from the accident I thought, I got this.  I can deal with my own claim, I do this all the time.  What I didn’t realize at the time was the emotion that goes along with the injury and I could no longer be objective.  I felt ICBC was being difficult to deal with and I was becoming frustrated.  I eventually hired a lawyer and I went about healing my body and letting the lawyer deal with ICBC.

So my question is, was ICBC the bad guy???  Or was I in a place where I could no longer be Objective???  I would tend to think the latter, although my ego would say ICBC for sure.

I have been harping on this over the past while, having an Insurance Broker that gets the lowest rate is great.  What I feel is more important, is to work with a broker who understands the products they are selling and will be there to assist you and your employees at time of claim.

If we change the way we look at and treat Insurance Companies, will they change the way they do business?
